creepy or cool?
Okay, they dress really well these days and have become fashion idols at the ripe old age of 20. Their bag lady/rich college kid look pretty much inspired a whole season of designs. But I still can not get over Full House and the fact that their faces can only make one expression.

losing my edge
I have to admit that NYLON is one of my favorite magazines ever. I have been buying it since the very first issue. Lately though I have seen it slowly degrade (the MYSPACE issue anyone?) and sort of turn into a slightly edgy Teen Vogue. The new California issue with two of my fave actors on the cover does win them some "fuck yeah!" points, so I am hoping that this is a move back to the right direction.

baby i'm impressed
Gwen Stefani has always been a cool girl with an original style. When she announced that she was coming out with her own line of clothing I was really excited, but when the clothing arrived in stores I was rather disappointed. I mean you can only have so many L.A.M.B. print bags and shirts, and let's be honest the name is just dumb. Love, angel, music, baby...c'mon. Anyway, forget all that now because the Spring 2007 line is amazing!

Kate Moss has done this super sexy short film series directed by Mike Figgis for lingerie line Agent Provocateur. The series is called "The Four Dreams of Miss X" with the first installation released called "Shadows". Stay tuned for parts 2, 3, and 4.

On a similar note did you ever see The White Stripes video directed by Sofia Coppola that starred Kate Moss? I suggest you watch it now!

style icon in the making
Models are pretty much all the same to me, but once in a while a model comes along that is just fucking cool. Enter Irina Lazareanu. She is best friends with that other style icon, Kate Moss, played drums in a band (yeah, it was Babyshambles with Pete Doherty), is working on a new album with Sean Lennon, is the muse of Balenciaga designer Nicolas Ghesquière, and she has got the best bangs in the business.

Sunday
hello NY fashion week
"Bye-bye, gray skies. In conjunction with her switch from the London schedule to New York, where she hopes to grow her business, Kiwi Karen Walker is launching a line of vintage-inspired sunglasses." (style.com)
"More than one designer will be getting by with a little help from friends this season. Erin Fetherston—who presented her fall collection with a video shot by Ellen von Unwerth and starring Kirsten Dunst—continues her collaboration with the photographer for spring. Post-show, they'll shoot the clothes on Fetherston's photogenic pals and exhibit them in a gallery during Paris fashion week. Meanwhile, Alexander Wang, the 22-year-old cashmere kid, has partnered with his high-school pal, heiress Victoria Traina. She styled Wang's first full collection with photographer Miko Lim (of American Apparel ad fame), and the resulting pictures (above) will be blown up to life-size proportions for Wang's presentation." read it! BUST!
BUST is a great magazine that covers everything from feminism to fashion and they do it pretty darn well . The newest issue of BUST magazine features a really interesting interview with Tara Subkoff of the fashion label Imitation of Christ. She speaks about how ridicules the fashion industry can be and how she never intended to be a designer. I suggest that any independent designer (or anyone really) read the article because Imitation of Christ is one of the few outsider labels that has been successful in the industry.
